How electricity bill check works in India
Every electricity consumer in India is served by one distribution company (DISCOM) — for example, MSEDCL / Mahavitaran in most of Maharashtra, UPPCL in Uttar Pradesh, TNEB / TANGEDCO in Tamil Nadu, KSEB in Kerala, BESCOM in urban Karnataka, and BSES Rajdhani / Yamuna / TPDDL in Delhi. To view your latest bill online, you log in to your DISCOM's consumer portal with your consumer or account number, which is printed on every previous bill.
To calculate or verify the amount, you need to apply the right slab structure — telescopic for most states, non-telescopic for a few like Kerala domestic — along with FAC (Fuel Adjustment Charge), the per-kW fixed charge, electricity duty (a state levy as a % of energy + fixed), and any state-level subsidy.
